Anholt OWF Cable Repaired

Business & Finance

The cable connecting Anholt offshore wind farm and the Danish power grid, which was out of operation from September 30th, is now repaired.

Energinet.dk announced the news on its official website and added that the Anholt wind turbines can again send power to land.

The failure occurred on Tuesday, September 30th at 8:35am, after which Energinet.dk worked hard to find and repair the fault. The work ended today, Monday morning.

The error was found on the part of the cable that was buried in the ground, a few kilometers west of Grenaa. The error occurred in a small portion of the cable, but in order to make the most efficient repair, a major piece (about 20 meters) of cable has been dug out, cut off and replaced with a new piece of cable.

Anholt offshore wind farm is expected to be in operation on Tuesday. It is still too early to say what are the costs of repairing the cable and compensating DONG Energy for being unable to transmit power to its consumers.
