Offshore Wind Plans Not to Affect Steam Packet

Authorities

World’s oldest continuously operating passenger shipping company from Isle of Man expressed relief that recently approved offshore wind farm plans will not affect shipping routes.

Steam Packet  chief executive Mark Woodward said they fought hard against the wind energy proposal east of the island, adding that new entirely different proposal will not threaten shipping lanes in any way.

Danish energy company was recently selected as the preferred partner of the Isle of Man government to develop a new offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.

The proposed site of the wind farm is off the east coast of the Isle of Man within the 12-mile limit of the island’s territorial sea. The agreement for lease would be in respect of the 700MW Project Option for delivery in 2023.
