French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, Ségolène Royal, has announced that the country will launch its third offshore wind tender next year.

In yesterday’s speech, Royal did not reveal what capacity will be offered, but did note the tender process will be replaced by a “competitive dialogue”.

According to the French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, they will also launch a call for expression of interest for floating wind farm project. Funded by the Investment program for the future (PIA), the projects will be worth EUR 150 million, he added.

To date, France has issued two offshore wind tenders comprising six offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 3GW, scheduled to be online by 2020.
