Energinet.dk Gets Approval to Build Kriegers Flak Grid Connection System

Authorities

On December 16, the Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Building issued an investment approval for units to be erected by Energinet.dk in order to connect the forthcoming offshore wind turbines at Kriegers Flak in the Baltic Sea to the onshore electricity grid.

The approval allows Energinet.dk to enter into contracts for a total of 200 km of submarine and land cables, two offshore substations, a new substation on land and expansion of existing substations.

The unit will be installed as a 220 kV AC system and is budgeted at DKK 3.5 billion (over EUR 470 million).

Under the agreement, the grid connection infrastructure must be ready to receive electricity when the first turbine becomes operational at the 600 MW offshore wind farm at the end of 2018.
