Pelamis Fails to Secure Buyer

Authorities

Scottish government is set to take over the Pelamis wave energy company’s assets after no final offer was made for the business.

Although Highlights and island Enterprise was selected as the preferred bidder by KMPG administrators, the remaining 16 workers will lose their jobs.

Blair Nimmo, joint administrator and head of restructuring at KPMG in Scotland, said: “Following the sales process, I am pleased to confirm that Highland and Islands Enterprise has been appointed preferred bidder in relation to acquiring the assets of Pelamis Wave Power Limited.

“Unfortunately, as no going concern solution has been found, the remaining staff will shortly be made redundant. We are working with government agencies to ensure employees obtain as much assistance as possible.”

Pelamis went into administration last month after which most of its workers were made redundant in an effort to keep the company afloat.
