Friends of the Supergrid (FOSG), Europe’s largest industrial alliance for interconnection, has adopted a new action plan.

It reflects the recent developments in the energy sector, and advocates for a more interconnected electricity grid.

The CEO of Friends of the Supergrid, Pierre Bernard, spoke yesterday in Brussels, stating that “the FOSG alliance will more than ever stand-up for a pan-European grid where regions with EU-wide RES potential would be efficiently connected to areas of high demand where citizens need their power, through the effective long distance transmission of power, complementing existing national infrastructure.”

He believes the Supergrid will contribute to the lowering of electricity prices in a significant way, an objective shared by the European Commission today.

FOSG will provide in the coming weeks concrete recommendations on the infrastructure objectives to be attained by 2030, that should foster economic welfare and job creation in the EU.
