Celia Anderson is leaving East of England Energy Group (EEEGR), the Great Yarmouth-based industry association that represents more than 400 members across the energy supply chain, to become general manager of strategic energy market intelligence company and EEEGR member Cornwall Energy, based in Norwich.

Ms Anderson, one of the founders of Skills for Energy (SfE) in the EEEGR, of which she is executive director, has devoted the last 12 years to developing programmes, courses, networks and schemes to inspire and enable more people to gain skills for the energy industry and support them into new careers.

One of the most major and successful initiatives she drove was Military in the Energy Industry, supporting service leavers into the oil, gas, nuclear and renewables industry.

Like many of the projects she has been involved in, it was delivered in collaboration and partnership with a wide range of bodies and organisations.

Ms Anderson led the industry-driven Energy Skills Foundation Programme, delivered at Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth colleges, established the energy engineering degree programmes at University of East Anglia, Norwich, and established many other projects including supporting military into the industry resulting in companies signing the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.

She set up the Energy Skills Network, Energy Employment Advisor project, HR forum, and supported the foundation of the Young Professionals Network and drove the background work to the EPISCentre.

Simon Gray, chief executive of EEEGR, paid tribute to Ms Anderson in front of 250 industry professionals at EEEGR’s flagship conference SNS2015 at the Norfolk Showground.

Ms Anderson’s departure coincided with the conclusion of EEEGR’s ERDF supply chain support programme, Mr Gray said, allowing EEEGR resources to be freed up to support the Skills for Energy programme.

Mr Gray will lead the Skills for Energy enterprise and maintain the SfE advisory board. Gemma Head, currently SfE project manager, has been promoted to programme manager to front most of the existing work streams. Marketing, event management and PR will be dealt with by the existing EEEGR marketing and events team.
