Seajacks Assists Sheringham Shoal O&M

Operations & Maintenance

Seajacks has completed Operations & Maintenance (O&M) project at Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm.

The company was commissioned by Statkraft, operator and joint owner, to support 2 gearbox changes at 317MW wind farm off the Norfolk coast.

Seajacks provided specialist technicians, tooling and lifting equipment for the project, working closely with the Statkraft project team in all stages of planning from the tooling, turbine preparation gearbox exchange and re-commissioning of the 2 turbines. Vessel delivery was coordinated in conjunction with the delivery of 2 gearboxes from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

This is the first time that a major component has been exchanged on a Siemens model turbine offshore without Siemens managing the project and providing the heavy lift team within the UK. The technical resource “heavy lift team” provision during the operation was carefully put together by both project teams from Statkraft and Seajacks utilising supporting manpower from 3Sun.
