First Eneco Luchterduinen Turbine Installed

Wind Farm Update

Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm has reached another milestone in its construction phase.

Following a successful installation of the first turbine tower 23 kilometers off the coast of Noordwijk and Zandvoort, Van Oord had installed the first wind turbine last week.

Van Oord’s new transport and installation vessel ‘Aeolus’ is used for the construction. It picks up parts for eight wind turbines at a time from the port of Esbjerg and installs them at the construction site. The installation of a wind turbine, including relocation of Aeolus, takes about a day.

The wind farm comprises 43 V112-3.0 MW offshore turbines manufactured by Danish Vestas.

When completed, the 129MW wind farm will be able to produce clean electricity for nearly 150,000 households.

The construction of Eneco Luchterduinen commenced in August 2014 and is expected to be completed the same month this year.
