Conwy Groups Invited to Bid for Rhyl Flats Funds

Business & Finance

Community or voluntary groups, charities, and town and community councils can apply for grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 from the Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund.

Grants can be used for capital and or revenue projects which:

  • promote community spirit and encourage community involvement
  • contribute to vibrant, healthy and sustainable communities
  • enhance quality of life for local residents.

The Rhyl Flats Community Fund is administered by the Welsh Government and applications are assessed by a panel of local community, third sector and voluntary representatives.

There are spaces available on the panel so the search is on for two to three new community members to join the team. Members should be keen to get involved in deciding how the Rhyl Flats Community Fund can best serve local needs and be able to attend up to four meetings a year.

Lesley Griffiths, Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty, said:

“The Rhyl Flats Community Fund is an excellent opportunity for local groups to develop creative, innovative projects to support communities in Conwy. I would encourage any community groups which are interested in developing new schemes, tailored to local needs and priorities, to find out more and submit an application.”

Katy Woodington, Senior Community Investment Officer for RWE Innogy UK, said:

“We are hoping to expand the good work that we are able to do in North Wales through the £19m Gwynt y Môr community fund, due to be launched later this year. RWE Innogy UK takes pride in the delivery of our community funding with renewable energy projects we operate investing nearly £3million into UK communities over the last three years.”
