Following the 2015 general election in the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron has formed a new government, naming Amber Rudd MP the new Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

Rudd takes on the post previously held by Liberal Democrat Edward Davey, whose party lost the election to Conservatives.

In their 2015 Manifesto, Conservatives vow to stop new public subsidy for onshore wind farms, but support offshore wind and tidal energy, along with nuclear, oil and gas resources.
