Triton Knoll: Electrical System Application on the Table

Grid Connection

The application for the electrical infrastructure for RWE’s Triton Knoll offshore wind farm has been accepted for examination, the UK Planning Inspectorate notified on its website.

RWE seeks an order granting development consent for its proposed electrical system, comprising onshore and offshore buried export cables, an intermediate electrical compound, and a substation located in the vicinity of the grid connection point.

Bicker Fen has been selected as the location to connect the Triton Knoll offshore wind farm to the National Grid.

RWE has explained that Bicker Fen, south west of Boston, with an underground connection through Lincolnshire, offered the most economic, efficient and coordinated solution, and was likely to have the least environmental impact over other options considered.
