Kentish Flats Extension Turbines Hit the Road

Wind Farm Update

Construction at Kentish Flats Extension offshore wind farm is well underway.

The first batch of towers, blades and nacelles was loaded onto Neptune at MHI Vestas factory this weekend and began their journey on Monday, said Vattenfall.

The vessel is due to arrive on site today with the commencement of installation shortly after.

An individual load will contain three sets of components at a time, and the vessel will return to Esbjerg to reload after each set has been installed.

Meanwhile, the installation of array cable and rock mattresses continue in the background.

The export cable installation is due to start at the end of this week/weekend after several days of bad weather.

Subject to suitable weather conditions, Vattenfall will be carrying out foreshore cabling work on Friday 19th June.  As a result of this work, the foreshore area immediately to the East of Hampton Pier will be restricted to the general public for a period of approximately 24 hours (up to 48 hours), commencing approximately 18:00 on Thursday, 18th June.

Access to the pier and Hampton Pier Car park will also be curtailed during the cable pull in works.
