Siemens Picks SMC for Gode Wind Coordination

Specialist Marine Consultants Ltd (SMC) are providing offshore Marine Coordination for Siemens on Gode Wind 1 & 2.

The Gode Wind 1 & 2 project comprises of 97 Siemens 6MW turbines, the first of which was installed in early August.

Gode Wind, in the German part of the North Sea, is a DONG Energy project. SMC, based on the UK Yorkshire coast, are undertaking offshore Marine Coordination for Siemens Wind Power. They have previously worked with Siemens on numerous wind farm projects in the UK. SMC are presently providing Marine Coordination on Butendiek, Baltic 2 and Borkum Riffgrund.

Ian Coates, SMC MD, said: “We have a long history of working with Siemens, providing Marine Coordination using our ATLAS Marine Coordination System. This contract builds on a successful and on-going partnership with Siemens. We understand their requirements, and how best to utilise the use of CTV’s in the most safe and efficient way.”
