VOS Sympathy En Route for Dogger Bank Met Masts

Operations & Maintenance

The 78m offshore supply vessel VOS Sympathy will set sail from Newcastle tomorrow for an operations and maintenance trip to the two Forewind meteorological masts on Dogger Bank.

The on-board team, including Forewind personnel and contractors, will carry out inspections and scheduled maintenance work on both Dogger Bank Met Mast East, located approximately 100 kilometres from the UK coast, and Dogger Bank Met Mast West, sited 150 kilometres from the coast.

The met masts are collecting valuable wind, wave, atmospheric and marine traffic data for the four wind farms now consented on Dogger Bank.

This week’s trip is part of a regular maintenance programme and involves a vessel crew of 20 plus a team of 22 personnel including representatives from Forewind and one of its owner companies, Statkraft, as well as marine contractors SeaRoc, RES, PowerPoint, Remote Access Technology (RAT), Ampelmann and Renewables Consulting Group.

It is expected to take around 15 days to complete the trip.
