Horns Rev 2 Subsea Cable Out of Order

Grid Connection

A subsea cable that runs from the Horns Rev 2 offshore wind farm to the onshore grid is out of operation, Energinet.dk reported.

The 42km long subsea cable while it is still rolled up at the cable laying vessel during Horns Rev 2 construction.

After an error occurred on the cable at 01:56 last night, Energinet.dk went to the site to locate the faulty part and will start the repair work if necessary.

It is still too early to say how the error occurred, or when the cable will be back in operation, the transmission system operator said.

The 42km long cable connects Energinet.dk’s platform in the North Sea off Blåvand to the onshore grid in Blåbjerg north of Henne.

Recently, Energinet.dk also notified that it will work on the Anholt offshore wind farm’s cable, after identifying a risk of an error and deciding to replace the first 400m of the wind farm’s subsea cable from Grenå and the last 4km before the substation.
