The FINO1 Met Mast is situated in the North Sea, approximately 45 kilometres to the north of Borkum, and in an immediate vicinity of the 60MW Alpha Ventus, Germany’s first offshore wind farm.

The company says that the deployed FLiDAR, equipped with two LiDARs, ”performed flawlessly, maintaining over 98% data availability through yet another winter storm in the North Sea,” despite being battered by 8-metre waves and wind gusts reaching over 38 knots.

The FLiDAR is a floating LiDAR system designed to accurately measure wind speed and wind direction offshore at turbine hub-height for cost-effective wind resource assessments.

It has been deployed for 17 commercial wind campaigns and 10 offshore met mast validations around the world, accumulating more than 120 months of operational data.
