The G9 Offshore Wind Health and Safety Association, in partnership with the Energy Institute, has translated its good practice guidelines for offshore wind safety in both Danish and German to assist in adoption at non-UK sites.
The G9 good practice guidelines provide recommendations for working at height and the management of small service vessels.
The guidelines draw upon existing standards and practices in other industries, including the oil and gas industry, whilst also seeking to take account of and reflect the unique aspects of working in the offshore wind industry.
The G9 members are in the process of assessing the level of implementation of the recommendations contained in these guidelines at each of their sites.
Stephen Rose, Head of Wind Generation, SSE, and G9 Focal Group Leader, said: ”Denmark and Germany are significant markets in which the offshore wind industry operates. In response to industry demand, and to assist our members with operations in these regions, it made sense to provide our guidelines in both these languages to make them more widely accessible and to encourage further adoption of the safety recommendations contained in them.”
G9 is a health and safety group founded in 2012 by Centrica, DONG Energy, E.ON, RWE Innogy, Scottish Power Renewables, SSE, Statkraft, Statoil and Vattenfall.
