ABS Group Wins Borkum Riffgrund 2 Certification Contract

The UK-based ABS Group Ltd. has received a contract to provide project certification services to DONG Energy for the planned 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in Germany.

ABS Group’s certification scope will cover project quality management and document review, as well as manufacturing inspection of the offshore substations, which includes the topsides and foundations. Inspections will be carried out in several European countries.

Developed by DONG Energy, the Borkum Riffgrund 2 project is expected to be fully commissioned in the first half of 2019 and be one of the largest offshore wind farms installed in German waters.

The wind farm will be located in the German Bight area approximately 60 kilometres north of Eemshaven, and will comprise of 56 MHI Vestas V164-8.0MW turbines.
