The large-scale exercise was overseen by EDF Renewable’s HSE, Siemens HSE and the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA).

The Master of MPI Ducinea, Adam Reith, was required to maintain on-site co-ordination between the Coastguard, two teams of wind farm technicians, Teesside Wind Farm Co-ordination Centre and a simulated air-sea rescue helicopter.

In addition, the vessel was responsible for transferring rescue teams and equipment, and recovering the casualty when the rescue helicopter encountered (simulated) technical problems.

“Adam Reith and George Rooney on board MPI Dulcinea were commended for their outstanding work throughout the exercise. We would like to extend our appreciation to both MPI workboats and all crew members for their effective participation in the exercise,” said Vroon, MPI Offshore’s mother company.
