The jacket foundations weigh approximately 650 tonnes and have a footprint of 23 x 23 metres each. They will be installed in water depths of up to 42 metres.

Bladt Industries has fabricated 41 four-legged jackets and 164 piles for the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm, which will consist of 70 wind turbines. The remaining 29 foundations are being produced by Spanish company Navantia, which has also dispatched its first Wikinger foundation.

The foundations will support Adwen’s 5MW turbines, currently being built in Bremerhaven and Stade.

The EUR 1.4 billion Wikinger is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2017.
