IPF Session to Launch Offshore Wind Research Framework in US

Environment

With Massachusetts close to passing an omnibus energy bill which supports development of at least 2,000MW of offshore wind capacity by 2027, multiple research institutions have embarked on developing a national framework for offshore wind energy research.

The framework will be launched during a session at this year’s International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum (IPF), held from 2nd to 5th October in Newport, Rhode Island.

This IPF session will introduce the basic concepts behind a data-driven, multi-disciplinary system-level framework for offshore wind research to galvanize academia, industry, stakeholders, and policy makers.

The session chairs will then moderate a dialogue aimed at vetting the proposed research framework from multiple points of view including the private, public, and academic sectors.

The aim of the framework is to help create a resilient, low-risk, and productive offshore wind infrastructure and portfolio of wind farms with bankable, regulatable, insurable and litigable innovations.
