WindEurope has created an infographic which details the latest trends and developments within the offshore wind industry in Europe in the first half of 2016.

The infographic is a visual representation of some of the findings WindEurope published recently in a report titled ‘ The European offshore wind industry, Key trends and statistics 1st half 2016.’

According to the report, Europe’s offshore wind industry attracted a record EUR 14 billion in new investments during the first six months of 2016, with seven projects with a combined capacity of 3.7GW reaching final investment decision during this period.

The volume of new grid-connected installations in the first half of 2016 was 511 MW, 78% down on the same period in 2015. Europe fully grid connected 114 commercial offshore wind turbines in four wind farms: Westermeerwind (NED), Gemini (NED), Gode Wind I (GE), Gode Wind II (GE).

Overall, 13 commercial wind farms were under construction during the period which once completed will have a total capacity of over 4.2 GW.

Total installed offshore wind capacity in Europe now stands at 11,538 MW across 82 wind farms in 11 countries.
