After the installation of all 18 foundations, the installation vessel MPI Enterprise erected the first wind turbine at the 110.7MW Nordergründe offshore wind farm, wpd reported today.

Nordergründe is the first German offshore project for which all the major works are being provided exclusively by manufacturers based in Germany with production centered in the north-west region of the country. Along with Senvion, the turbines supplier, the companies hired for the project are Ambau for foundations, BVT for transformer substation, NSW for internal cabling and Bilfinger for installation.

The Nordergründe wind farm is being built in water depth of up to 10m within the 12-mile sea zone of the German North Sea. It is located 15 kilometres north-east of the island of Wangerooge.
