The LIOS EN.SURE DTS will allow a real time fibre optic temperature monitoring of a 50km 155kV export cable, helping TSOs and utility companies prevent future cable failures, repairs and downtimes.

LIOS has won the contract based on the best technical and economical solution, the company said, and TenneT’s decision was based on a several months long trial comparing DTS solutions from different vendors.

The long-range series of the EN.SURE DTS family is based on a proprietary Brillouin measurement technology which offers distance range and measurement performance in combination with the passively cooled (fan-less) and maintenance free industrial design of the EN.SURE DTS product family.

”Especially at distances above 20km, it exhibits a superior temperature resolution and accuracy in comparison to other technologies,” the company said in a statement.
