Iberdrola has shared several photos showing the start of turbine installation works at the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German part of the Baltic Sea.

The photos show Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up vessel Brave Tern installing some of the wind farm’s 70 Adwen 5MW wind turbines at the site.

Brave Tern was loaded with the first turbine components at the Port of Sassnitz-Mukran in early January, where the vessel waited for favourable weather to sail out.

Brave Tern arrived at the installation site with the first shipment of turbine components on 18 January.

In 2015, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier signed a contract to install 70 Adwen 5MW wind turbines at the offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

At the end of November 2016, final jacket foundations were sent off to the Wikinger site and first components of Adwen 5MW wind turbines arrived at the port.

The EUR 1.4 billion project is Iberdrola’s first offshore wind farm in German waters. The Wikinger wind farm is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year.
