Vessels

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has shared a photo of its wind turbine installation vessel Brave Tern hard at work transporting and installing wind turbine components for Iberdrola’s 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German part of the Baltic Sea.

Brave Tern installed the first of 70 Adwen 5MW turbines at the site at the end of January, 2017. The vessel was loaded with the first turbine components at the Port of Sassnitz-Mukran in early January.

In 2015, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier signed a contract to install the 70 wind turbines at the offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

At the end of November 2016, final jacket foundations were sent off to the Wikinger site and the first components of Adwen 5MW wind turbines arrived at the port.

The EUR 1.4 billion project is Iberdrola’s first offshore wind farm in German waters.

The Wikinger wind farm is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year.
