The first shipment consisted of 12 blades which arrived to the port’s Outer Harbour on board the Symphony Star on 7 April, Peel Ports said.

The 75-metre blades were then transported to the storage yard at the north end of the North Terminal by ALE Heavylift.

The port expects the remaining 156 blades for the project to arrive in the near future.

Siemens will supply 56 6MW turbines for the Galloper wind farm off Suffolk.

The installation of the wind turbines is expected to start in the early summer of 2017 and the wind farm is expected to be fully commissioned in the first quarter of 2018.

Components such as nacelles, blades, towers and electrical modules have started arriving at Great Yarmouth via the port, where they will be pre-assembled quayside before going offshore.
