SPT Offshore is tasked with installing 174 suction pile foundations for 58 suction bucket jackets on a part of the wind farm. The jackets support the 7MW Siemens wind turbines.

In October 2016, Boskalis won the contract to transport and install a portion of the wind farm’s 174 foundations.

The transport and installation of the foundations will be executed by Boskalis’ new offshore transport and installation crane vessel for which an existing F-class heavy transport vessel will be converted.

Hornsea Project One is located 120 kilometres off the Yorkshire Coast and covers an area of 407 square kilometers.

Once fully operational in 2020, it will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world.
