The vessel, named by Mrs Tracie Moyes from MHI Vestas yesterday, will provide offshore logistics support, accommodation and walk-to-work services during the installation and commissioning of 40 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines at the 659MW Walney Extension wind farm.

VOS Start is Vroon’s first subsea support walk-to-work vessel and has been purpose built to support offshore operations in renewable energy industry and walk-to-work projects in oil & gas.

The vessel is equipped with a Barge Master motion-compensated gangway system and an active heave-compensated crane built by SMST.

A sister vessel, VOS Stone, will be delivered to Vroon by Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China next week.
