CIP Bolsters Taiwanese Offshore Wind Connection

Authorities

The Changhua County government and Denmak’s Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have signed a memorandum of cooperation to jointly promote and develop offshore wind industry in Taiwan’s most populous county.

Earlier this year, CIP acquired three offshore wind sites under development off Changhua in the Taiwan Strait with a combined capacity of 1,500MW.

The three projects are in the process of applying for the required environmental permits and are still subject to a final investment decision.

The Changhua County government will assist CIP by speeding up administrative processes to help the projects reach the final investment decision.

CIP, on the other hand, will assist the county in developing and establishing a local offshore wind industry chain which will be tasked with building and maintaining the company’s three projects.

The government in Taiwan has set a target of 3,000MW of offshore wind to be constructed by 2025.
