Fred. Olsen Shows Wikinger Turbine Installation (VIDEO)

Operations & Maintenance

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has recently posted a video showing the turbine installation process on Iberdrola’s 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up Brave Tern completed the turbine installation at the site in October.

Iberdrola connected the 70 Adwen 5MW wind turbines to the German grid on Friday, 29 December.

The EUR 1.4 billion Wikinger wind farm will be operated from the O&M building in Sassnitz for at least 25 years.

In 2015, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier signed a contract to install the 70 wind turbines at the offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

At the end of November 2016, final jacket foundations were sent off to the site and the first components of Adwen 5MW wind turbines arrived at the port.

Located approximately 75km from the mainland close to the island of Rügen, Wikinger is in the northern part of an area known as Westlich Adlergrund that the German authorities have designated as a Priority Offshore Development Area.
