The extension of the contract brings 124 CPS, in addition to 248 CPS for the inter-array grid submarine cables from last year, when the initial contract was awarded.

According to Seaproof, the total amount of 372 CPS makes it the company’s largest delivery to a single project.

Henrik Bang-Andreasen, Founder and CEO at Seaproof Solutions, said: “We are honoured that Ørsted has chosen Seaproof Solutions Cable Protection Systems. Supporting Ørsted in this project, with building our CPS in the UK, is an important step for Seaproof Solutions in supporting UK Offshore Wind and development of UK supply line.”

Offshore construction of the wind farm started in late January 2018, with the installation of the first of 174 monopiles at the site some 120 kilometers off Yorkshire.

The 1.2GW Hornsea Project One is expected to be commissioned in 2020, when it will become the largest operating offshore wind farm in the world.

Ørsted, the sole owner of the wind farm, holds the project rights to Hornsea Project Two and Three, which have the potential of further 3GW of offshore wind power capacity in total.
