The Dutch contractor installed the first of the 102 three-legged jackets at the site some 45 kilometres southeast of Lowestoft mid-June. The jackets are being installed in depths of up to 55 metres. East Anglia One will have the largest number of three-legged foundations ever installed on a wind farm, Van Oord said.

ScottishPower Renewables commissioned Van Oord to function as the contractor for this project, responsible for transport and installation of the offshore wind turbine foundations, including logistics and deployment of the equipment.

Heavy lift vessel Aegir started its assignment to place jackets from the transport barges on to the pre-installed piles last week. It is anticipated to perform a number of distinct campaigns over the late summer and autumn of 2018, the company said.

With a total of 102 Siemens 7MW wind turbines, East Anglia ONE wind farm will ultimately deliver a total of 714MW. The wind farm is scheduled to become operational in 2020.
