Swire Blue Ocean’s wind turbine installation vessel, Pacific Orca, installed the first of the 84 wind turbines at the site some 13 kilometres off the Caithness coast mid-July. The wind farm delivered the first power to the National Grid soon thereafter.

The turbine components are loaded onto Pacific Orca in the sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base.

The Beatrice offshore wind farm is scheduled for full commissioning in Spring 2019.

The GBP 2.6 billion project is being developed by BOWL, a joint venture partnership between SSE, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, and Red Rock Power Ltd.
