This is the second such project for JFMS at the offshore wind farm, with the scope including the removal and replacement of gearbox oil on 25 Senvion 6 MW turbines and two 5 MW ones.

JFMS said it had carried out the operations using its Ship-to-Turbine™ system, which helped reduce turbine downtime by some 50% and improved technician utilisation.

The 325 MW Thornton Bank (C-Power) is Belgium’s first offshore wind farm, built in three phases and operational since 2013.

During the first phase, six Senvion 5 MW wind turbines were erected on gravity-based foundations and the phase was commissioned in 2009. Thornton Bank II consists of 24 Senvion 6 MW wind turbines installed on jacket foundations that were fully commissioned at the beginning of 2013. The third phase also comprises 24 Senvion 6 MW wind turbines, which have been producing electricity since July 2013.
