The monopile reportedly fell while being lifted onto the MV Svenja by the vessel’s cranes on Wednesday evening, 31 October. The painted part of the monopile rested onto the vessel while the other end landed on the Pier 10.

The amount of the damage caused is still unknown. The captain of the vessel reported that one of the crew members suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

The MV Svenja’s most recent visits to the Port of Rostock involved the transportation of monopiles for the 1,218MW Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm in the UK.
