EOWDC Community Fund Opens for Applications

Business & Finance

Vattenfall has started accepting applications for the community benefit scheme that is part of its European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) community fund.

Vattenfall

Vattenfall is committed to annually investing GBP 150,000 in the community benefit scheme for the 20-year lifetime of the 93.2MW offshore wind project in Scotland.

The fund is accepting applications from today, 14 January, until 15 April 2019.

According to the company, the scheme will invest in projects that are environmentally sustainable, have a legacy and lasting impact, contribute to a climate smarter world and are a benefit to the local community.

EOWDC, also known as Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm, comprises nine MHI Vestas 8.4MW turbines and two MHI Vestas turbines with a record-breaking capacity of 8.8MW.

The 93.2MW project, officially inaugurated in September 2018, is being used as a testbed for new offshore wind technologies such as 66kV subsea cables and suction bucket jacket foundations, and is part of a scientific research effort to better understand the environmental impacts of offshore wind.
