Ørsted, Total and Elicio are joining forces with an aim to submit a bid for the Dunkirk offshore wind project in France.

The three parties are creating an industrial consortium to submit the joint bid for a power capacity of up to 600MW.

“Our recognized offshore oil and gas know-how combined with Ørsted market-leading expertise across the offshore wind energy value chain, as well as that of Elicio, an experienced developer qualified from the beginning of the bid, provide a solid foundation for success of a safe and competitive project,” said Philippe Sauquet, President Gas, Renewables and Power at Total.

The French government launched the tender for the development and operation of the Dunkirk project in mid-November last year, following a delay of several months.

Ten potential developers had been pre-selected in May 2017, while the winner is expected to be announced by the middle of this year.

The Dunkirk project, part of the country’s third round of tenders, will have a capacity of between 400MW and 600MW. It will be installed at a 70km2 square area some 10km off the coast.
