The two subsea high-voltage connections will each have the capacity to bring  2GW of energy to land, the Dutch consultancies said. The financial details of the contract have not been disclosed.

Pondera’s director, Hans Rijntalder, said: “This wind farm makes an important contribution to making the Dutch energy supply more sustainable. The challenge here is to find a good balance between future-proof technical solutions, environmental effects, costs and good spatial integration in consultation with the environment. ”

The 4GW Ijmuiden Ver is one of three sites identified by the Dutch government’s Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030. The three sites have a combined capacity of 6.1GW and are expected to help the Netherlands reach the target of 11.5GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

The wind farms at the sites are expected to be commissioned between 2024 and 2030.
