Hvide Sande will provide 72 cranes for the 605MW project in the order placed by Bladt Industries, which in charge of delivering the wind farm’s transition pieces.

According to Carl Erik Kristensen, Director of Hvide Sande, the shipyard has just invested in new facilities in Ringkøbing which will be used for the crane assembly and for accommodating Seasight Davits, who develops and services the cranes.

Kristensen added that an order for 41 extra cranes could have been made if the Vesterhav Syd and Vesterhav Nord offshore wind projects had not been postponed.

In November 2016, Vattenfall won the tender to build the Kriegers Flak project with the lowest ever bid of EUR 49.9 per MWh, 58% below the original cap of EUR 120 per MWh.

The 605MW offshore wind project will comprise 72 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines scheduled to be in full operation before the end of 2021.
