Windcat Orders Propulsion Gear for Two New WFSVs

Windcat Workboats has placed an order with the Norway-based Servogear to provide gear and propulsion packages for two new offshore wind farm support vessels (WFSVs).

According to Servogear, the Ecoflow Propulsors will be supplied for the WC45 and WC46 vessels.

The company will also deliver shaft brackets, effect rudders and intermediate shafting system, as well as HD220UL/UR reduction gearboxes.

Servogear’s partner Brunvoll will provide the propulsion and steering control system.

“It is very inspiring for us to extend our long-term and successful co-operation with Windcat Workboats by signing an agreement for another two vessels. Once again Windcat show confidence in our technology and ability to provide high-quality equipment with short delivery times,” said Servogear Sales Manager Martijn Bemelen.

The vessels are expected to have a top speed of 28kn and to be equipped with controllable pitch propellers that are 1075mm in diameter.

In total, Servogear provided propulsion technology for 22 of Windcat Workboats’ vessels.
