Ofgem Selects Rampion OFTO Preferred Bidder

Grid Connection

Ofgem has selected Transmission Capital Partners as the preferred bidder for the long-term license and operation of the transmission link connecting the 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm to the UK grid.

Rampion Offshore

Transmission Capital Partners is a consortium comprising International Public Partnerships Limited, Amber Infrastructure, and Transmission Investment.

The latest scheme represents the eighth Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) project that Transmission Capital Partners has been appointed to as the preferred bidder. The company expects to invest between GBP 35 and GBP 45 million, with financial close estimated in the first half-year of 2020.

The project relates to the transmission cable connection to the offshore wind farm located 13 kilometres off the Sussex coast. The Rampion wind farm consists of 116 MHI Vestas 3.45MW wind turbine generators connected to the offshore substation platform (OSP) located within the boundaries of the Rampion wind farm.

The wind farm, owned by E.ON (50.1%), Green Investment Group (25%) and Enbridge (24.9%), was officially opened in November 2018.
