GRS is in charge of selecting and contracting all service providers for the transport of foundations from Europe to Taiwan, as well as the subsequent installation at the offshore project site.

The task includes 80 monopile foundations and 80 transition pieces for the 640MW offshore wind farm.

GRS also established its first office in Taipei this September, with an aim to have better accessibility for its customers, the company said.

“The Asiatic-Pacific region has seen huge growth rates in the field of offshore wind energy for years. We are very happy to put our experience of many years in consulting and shipbroking into practice in order to contribute to the successful realization of the largest wind farm in Taiwan,” said Matthias Mross, Managing Partner at GRS.

Yunlin will consist of 80 Siemens Gamesa turbines of the 8MW class located 8km off Taiwan’s west coast. The 640MW offshore wind project reached financial close at the end of May and is scheduled for completion by December 2021.
