Vattenfall’s Vice President of Offshore Wind Resigns

Vattenfall’s Vice President of Business Unit Offshore Wind Michael Simmelsgaard has decided to leave the company.

Simmelsgaard, who joined Vattenfall in 2015, will continue his career outside the company. Head of Engineering Offshore Wind Jacob Nørgaard Andersen will take over the role as Danish Country Manager.

“Vattenfall’s has developed a strong offshore business over the last years with an incredible pipeline of interesting offshore project,” said Simmelsgaard .

“I am honored to have been part of this competent and energetic team. They are among the top global developers of offshore wind and leading the way towards fossil free living within one generation.”

Simmelsgaard worked in several executive management positions over the last four years within Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind. In 2017, he was promoted to the current position as Vice President, heading the Business Unit Offshore Wind. He also held the role of Country Manager for in Denmark.

“Michael was one of the driving forces in the successful growth path of our Offshore Business. I want to thank him for his engagement and his energy and spirit during the last years. The development towards subsidy free offshore wind energy is definitely carrying his signature,” said Gunnar Groebler , Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Wind.
