RTE Seeks Cable Storage for Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind Project

Contracts & Tenders

Réseau de Transport d’Electricité (RTE) has expanded a recently issued tender for cable storage services to include the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project in France.

In October, RTE issued a tender for storage services for the 225kV submarine power cables, and optionally junctions and accessories, for the Saint-Nazaire, Courseulles-sur-Mer and Fécamp offshore wind projects.

According to the updated tender, the storage site must be secure and allow rapid mobilization at any time in the event of damage. It must be located in 1 seaport as close as possible to a quay and no more than 48h by boat from each connection.

The target date for setting up the site is at the earliest September 2020.

The duration of the contract is 10 years, while options for renewal include two times per 5 years. The deadline for submitting applications is 10 January 2020 by 12:00 local time.

Saint-Brieuc will comprise 62 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines located in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc some 16km off the coast at the nearest point. The 496MW offshore wind farm is expected to be operational by 2023.
