R&D

The components of Siemens Gamesa’s prototype SG 11.0-193 DD Flex turbine have started arriving in Østerild, Denmark, where they will be installed for testing.

The nacelle has arrived in Østerild, while the three blades are expected to be transported from the Hanstholm harbor, craned and assembled at the end of this week, a spokesperson from Siemens Gamesa told Offshore WIND.

The nacelle prototype was produced in Brande, while the 94m B94 Integral Blades were produced in Aalborg.

Siemens Gamesa launched the new DD Flex concept and the SG 11.0-193 DD Flex offshore wind turbine in November.

The turbines, with a 193m diameter rotor, will be featured at Vattenfall’s Hollandse Kust Zuid 1-4 offshore wind farms in the Netherlands.
