The 140-metre cargo barge is expected to enter service in May. The vessel is being built by Jong-Shyn Shipbuilding.

The TIPM 514001 barge is equipped with an automatic ballast system and a deck space of over 5000 m2 which allows the vessel to carry up to three jacket foundations, TIPM said.

The vessel is designed to operate in various tide conditions such as the ones at the major marshalling port in Taiwan, Port of Taichung, which has a 6-metre tide level difference.

TIPM is a subsidiary company of Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC). The company operates a fleet of vessels including tugs, four crew transfer vessels (CTVs), and six deck barges with various dimensions.

A recently modified crane vessel, TIPM51601, will support the construction of an offshore wind farm in the third quarter of 2020, TIPM said.
