Pipeshield Delivers Concrete Mattresses for French Offshore Wind Project

Wind Farm Update

Pipeshield International, part of Tekmar Group, has completed the delivery of concrete mattresses to the EPCI joint venture of Eiffage Métal and DEME for the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind project in France.

Pipeshield completed the engineering, manufacturing, and delivery of 77 concrete mattresses of varying specifications for the 480 MW project, the first commercial-scale wind farm installed in French waters.

The company said it had worked collaboratively with Eiffage to develop an optimized engineering solution and comprehensive mattress specifications that met the technical requirements of the challenging offshore location.

“Pipeshield is delighted to have provided Eiffage with a robust protection and stabilisation solution for this prestigious French project,” said Sam Bird, Project Manager at Pipeshield.

“It is also pleasing to see another offshore wind project supported by multiple Tekmar Group Companies with our sister company Tekmar Energy delivering CPS for the protection of subsea array cables.”

Tekmar will supply 160 TekLink Mechanical Latch CPS to protect the 33kV inter-array cables under a contract secured earlier this year.

Saint-Nazaire, also known as Parc du Banc de Guérande, will comprise 80 GE Haliade 150-6 MW turbines manufactured in France and scheduled to be operational in 2022.
