300 MW Chinese Offshore Wind Farm Connects to the Grid

Wind Farm Update

The 300 MW Zhuhai Golden Bay offshore wind farm in China has been fully connected to the grid.

MingYang

The project comprises 55 MingYang MySE5.5MW turbines, which can survive a super typhoon of 17th grade, the turbine supplier said.

MingYang added that it had delivered all the turbines in a record-breaking 5 months despite Covid-related challenges.

The Zhuhai Golden Bay project, developed by Guangdong Energy Group, is said to be the largest offshore wind project in China’s Guandong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The first turbine was installed in May 2020 at the site located in the southern part of Sanzao Island, Zhuhai City. The 300 MW wind farm entered the trial operation stage in November last year after the first units came online.
